Industry outsiders often think of spa and wellness as a single, amorphous industry, but insiders know that our vast $2-trillion market is made up of numerous sub-sectors, each with its own distinct purpose, challenges and opportunities.
Whether you are a day spa owner, a beauty product retailer or Ayurvedic center manager, it is important to be involved in your own segment. There is much to be gained from sharing your knowledge and experience with your business peers—and collaborating to grow your industry.
This year the 2013 Global Spa & Wellness Summit (GSWS) will feature six Global Forums on specific industry sub-sectors:
- Global Hotel Spa Forum
Has the luxury hotel spa lost its luster? Is wellness this sector’s future?
Did hotel spa brands deliver or fizzle?
- Global Destination Spa Forum
Will destination spas experience a new renaissance in coming years?
- Global Spa Retail Forum
Why can’t the spa industry get retail design right? And what would “right” look like?
- Global Hot Springs Spa Forum
Some hot springs properties are huge moneymakers—others are not.
What’s the secret?
- Global Hydro-Thermal Forum
Hygiene and safeguarding health is a growing issue, given it’s a perfect environment for bacteria and mold incubation. What are the new laws,
and what should every spa and designer consider?
- Global Spa Education Forum
Does the huge shortage of qualified spa managers mean that
salaries must go up?
If you’re not able to attend the Summit, we encourage you to participate in the Forums by letting us know the topics at the top of your list. If you are part of another industry sector, we would still like to receive your ideas and suggestions. In the words of the GSWS, we can accomplish so much by “joining together and shaping the future.”
Question of the week:
What hot topics should be discussed at the upcoming GSWS Forums? Please share your thoughts and/or results in the comment section.
